Things to Do in Columbia County

Exploring the Upper Hudson Region

The Inn at Green River is located within easy reach of all the best that Columbia County and the Upper Hudson Valley have to offer. Just 30 minutes from Hudson, 15 minutes from Chatham, and 50 minutes from Rhinebeck, it’s an easy day trip to world-class culture, dining, shopping, and outdoor activities.

The innkeeper is your concierge. A 30-year resident of the area, Deborah is ready to offer recommendations and suggestions with planning your stay, before or after you arrive. Regardless of the purpose of your stay, be it a romantic getaway, family holiday, or friendly reunion, Deborah can help you make the most of your time.

Let the adventure begin.

Columbia County & Upper Hudson Valley

To the west of the Berkshires, that part of the Appalachian range known as the Taconics begins sloping down to what becomes the Hudson Valley. In the eastern part of the county the scenery is similar to the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Further west, hills become gentler, yielding to farms and orchards. The majestic Catskill range across the Hudson is often visible. Like their eastern neighbors, Columbia County residents have often been drawn here by the beauty of the place. Second-home owners from Manhattan live next to fourth-generation farmers. An afternoon visit to Olana, the home of Hudson Valley School painter Frederic Church, might be followed by a swing by Agway to pick up garden supplies, followed by dinner at Swoon and an evening show at Club Helsinki in Hudson.

The combinations are limitless and there is something for every taste in this neck of the woods.
