Innkeeper Deborah Bowen has always been a fan of cut-and-pierced paper lampshades, an historic craft that one rarely sees these days.

Join Deborah in early April in a two-day workshop, creating your own pierced lampshade, taught by Marti Tetler.

The workshop runs for two days and is held at the nearby historic 1700's tannery on the grounds of the Austerlitz Historical Society. This two-day, $235 per person package includes two nights at the Inn, breakfast and lunch both days and the materials for making one lampshade. Participants who wish to make additional lampshades can purchase the materials at the workshop for between $5 and $10. Marti will be staying at the inn and will be happy to work with students in the evenings as well.

Catamount Ski Area is just 10 minutes south, a beautiful drive down the valley, and offers the best skiing in the southern Berkshires.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra spends the summer nearby at Tanglewood, in Lenox, Massachusetts in the heart of the Berkshires, "America's premier cultural resort."
