Hudson Valley Honeymoon DestinationIf you imagine spending your honeymoon engulfed in the beauty of New York State and relaxing in elegant luxury, then the Inn at Green River is where you want to be. Locations for New York State romantic getaways may abound, but you will not find any others like the Inn at Green River. The casual elegance, beautiful natural surroundings, warm hospitality, and decadent breakfasts provide a truly remarkable experience for each of our guests. The surrounding areas offer many wonderful points of interest. Whether you spend the day exploring or enjoying a relaxed day at the Inn with the one you love, you will quickly become enchanted by this beautiful area. The Thorsden Room, a large, corner room in the new west wing, has a fireplace and five toile-draped windows, with views of the hillside garden and the former church next door. It is named after the madam, "Ma" Thorsden, who ran the Inn as a bordello in the 1930s and '40s, despite its location next to the church and history as a one-time parsonage!
Above the king bed is a fabulous, unfinished, hooked rug by well-known rug designer, Pearl McGown. The design is from the 1950s. Deborah considers it folk art! The custom-made red armoire meant to invoke a Hudson River Valley Dutch "kass" provides closet space and holds the flat-screen cable TV. In the bathroom, a wonderful floral tole chandelier hangs above the large Jacuzzi-style tub with shower. The decor is aptly described in America's Wonderful Little Hotels and Inns as an "eclectic mix ... totally charming and mercifully devoid of country kitsch."
