There’s a Small Inn

Closer to home, one of the most romantic bed and breakfasts is the The Inn at Green River, tucked away from the busy tourist world on Route 71 in Hillsdale, NY. Fireplaces, deep-soaking tubs, two-person showers or Jacuzzis—owner Deborah Bowen serves up a very romantic atmosphere for her seven guest rooms in this 1830 Federal-style farmhouse on the banks of Cranse Creek.

She serves a full, sumptuous breakfast in the elegant dining room, but guests can relax there in jeans and down vests. Specialties of the house include lemon-ricotta pancakes, freshly baked scones, malted pear pancakes and omelets with honey ham.

And there's a special romance package that includes a $10 coupon for wine or champagne purchased at a local shop, a box of locally made chocolates and fresh flowers, all for $50 over the room rate .... Bowen offers a ski package as well, including a ticket for a Catamount Ski Area, which is only 15 minutes away.
